Northeast Bradford Elementary School celebrated “International Eat an Apple Day” on Friday, Sept. 15. Every student was given an apple to enjoy as a snack, and teachers prepared lessons around the celebration.
An example of an apple-centered lesson is from Mrs. Hainley’s kindergarten class. Students made apple trees by tracing their hands and forearms, and practicing scissor skills by cutting out the trees. Students noted that “tree” starts with “T,” the letter of the week, and added six red apples, the number of the day. Mrs. Hainley noted, “Our favorite part of the day was eating apples at snack time!”
