Gifted Students

Northeast Bradford High School Guidance Office offers opportunities for gifted students through GIEPs (gifted individualized education plan) and course selections.

7th and 8th Grades:  

  • Students are grouped homogeneously in the areas of English/Language Arts and mathematics to connect them with classmates that most closely match their academic abilities allowing for acceleration in breadth and depth of the course curriculum.
  • Identified students are able to schedule an additional 1.0 credits of high-school level Panther Academy (NEB Online Academy) courses throughout the school year. Panther Academy courses are additional online courses not currently offered in the standard NEB course catalog to junior high students.  Students are given high school credit for these courses.

9th Grade:

  • Students are able to choose an accelerated track of core content classes to allow for acceleration in breadth and depth of the course curriculum.
  • Identified students are able to schedule an additional 2.0 credits of Panther Academy (NEB online academy) courses throughout the school year in addition to a full in-building course load.  
  • Students have the opportunity to schedule the PSAT exam to prepare for college-level courses through Clarion University and/or Mansfield University in their sophomore year.

10th Grade:

  • Students are able to choose an accelerated track of core content classes to allow for acceleration in breadth and depth of the course curriculum.
  • Identified students are able to schedule an additional 2.0 credits of Panther Academy (NEB online academy) courses throughout the school year in addition to a full in-building course load.

11th and 12th Grades:

  • Students are able to schedule AP level courses in the following classes: AP English Literature, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Statistics and AP Psychology. (Additional AP level courses are available through the Panther Academy [NEB Online Panther Academy]). Gifted students will have the cost of their AP exams covered by the district for courses in which they are currently scheduled.  
  • Identified students are able to schedule an additional 2.0 credits of Panther Academy courses throughout the school year in addition to a full in-building course load.
  • Students have the opportunity to schedule dual enrollment college courses through Clarion and/or Mansfield Universities as well as through Lackawanna College. Students are permitted to schedule 2 online courses through Clarion and/or Mansfield Universities in the fall and two in the spring. Students are also permitted to schedule up to 4 courses for college credit through Lackawanna College per year. The district will pay for up to four dual enrollment courses per year.
