Dear Parents and Guardians:
The safety of the children and staff in the district is of the utmost importance when deciding whether the schools should be closed because of adverse weather conditions or other emergencies. Before a decision is made, information from many sources will be obtained and evaluated.
If it is necessary to close the schools, the announcement will be made over the following radio and television stations by 6:00 a.m.
Radio station WHWK (98.1 FM) in Binghamton
Radio station WATS-WAVR (960 AM, 102.3 FM) in Sayre
Radio station WTTC (1550 AM, 95.3 FM) in Towanda
Radio station WHGL-WIGGLE (1310 AM, 100 FM) in Troy
Television station WNEP-TV (Channel 16) in Avoca
Television station WYOU-TV (Channel 22) in Scranton
Telephone station WBRE-TV (Channel 28) in Wilkes-Barre
Television station WBNG-TV (Channel 12) in Binghamton
In addition, the district's Facebook page, CR Family app., One Call Now, school telephone system (744-2521), and web page (www.nebpanthers.com) will have closing and delay information available by 6:30 AM. There have been instances where we have been able to open the schools in the morning and adverse weather conditions have developed during the day. If it becomes necessary to dismiss the children early, we will also use the above to inform the community.
I encourage you to develop a plan for your family so that if we must send students home earlier than expected, that each child will know where to go if no one is at home. Parents/guardians of elementary children should notify the classroom teacher of the plan to be used if an early dismissal is necessary.
If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school.
Respectfully,
William J. Clark, Superintendent
