ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP)

Advanced Placement (AP) courses are rigorous, college-level classes designed for students to take as part of their high school curriculum.

Northeast Bradford offers the following AP courses:

  • AP English Composition and Literature

  • AP Psychology

  • AP Chemistry

  • AP Statistics

  • AP Environmental Science

At the end of each course, students are eligible to take the AP examination to earn potential college credit. This exam is optional, although students are strongly encouraged to test.

AP exams are on set dates set by the College Board. Students eligible for free or reduced lunch have tested at very little to no cost. Sign-ups take place in the fall. The cost per exam is around $94. AP exams are scored on a scale of 1 – 5. Most schools will give credit for an exam grade of 3 to 5 as credit for having had that particular college course, but each institution varies.

To ensure the rigor of our AP courses at Northeast Bradford, the Guidance Office submits updated AP course information to the College Board on a yearly basis. In addition, all our AP courses have undergone an AP audit in which the course content was scrutinized by AP officials to ensure the quality of each course. The school counselor proctors the exams on the scheduled dates.

We also offer additional AP courses through our online Panther Academy platform.
